So what is frequency music?
It's music tuned to a specific frequency. For some reason, once upon a time, it was declared that music was to be tuned to 440 Hz (Hertz). That's what the music you hear on radio stations, iTunes, etc. is.
In technical terms:
"A Frequency of 440 Hz means that a single trough and peak of the sound wave oscillates 440 times per second or equally that 440 sound waves are produced per second."
Hertz = How many times the sound bounces in one second.
Frequency music is a term for music that is specifically tuned to a different frequency than the 440 Hz norm.
Because 440 Hz is not compatible with the human body. It's jarring. It's not helpful to cells. Conspiracy theorists will say that 440 Hz was picked when war mongers during WW2 wanted to stir up the populace into unrest. I don't know if that's true or if no one really thought about the effect of 440 Hz at all. Regardless, if you are sensitive, you will FEEL THE DIFFERENCE.
Can everyone feel the frequency?
No. Not directly.
Scientists have discovered that there are over 200 mammals–including humans–who have sensitive nervous systems. Nature designed this so that all of the deer don't go rushing into the field willy-nilly. Some will pick up environmental clues that those non-sensitive deer can't sense. Not all deer are sensitive, however, because new food needs to be found and we all can't stay at home tucked up under a blanket and survive the winter.
I am a Highly Sensitive Person. I am also an Empath. I am so sensitive that I have a 100% accuracy rate of feeling a .mp3 player with frequency music on it (the volume so low you can't hear it) and telling you whether the music is playing or not and WHICH FREQUENCY is playing.
I know someone who is Highly Sensitive but does not claim to be an Empath. She can tell you if the music is playing but not what frequency it is.
I know a very kind person who is not sensitive who can't tell if it's playing at all but if you play the music in a room (sound so low you can't hear it) and then you take it away after a few days she will say "something doesn't feel right".
I know someone who is not sensitive, a nice person for sure but not normally emotional, who says "what are you talking about?" That being said, when the music is played and they don't know it, I have noticed there is still a calming, positive effect.
It works whether you can sense it or not.
What are the different frequencies that are "better" than 440 Hz?
YouTube has oodles of frequency music on it. 432 Hz is a popular one. I saw that one for years but never felt drawn to it. Now I know why. It wasn't until I discovered WholeTones that I figured out 432 Hz isn't my jam. 444 Hz now... that one is fantastic.
Michael from WholeTones has a site that is very marketing heavy. Sales-pitchy. Don't let that fool you. He has someone running his website but his product and his intent are pure. At least that's what my experience and my intuition tell me. ;)

This frequency appears to be purely spiritual.
Warning: Start at the low frequencies first until you get used to them.
I knew someone who got the music, played 852 Hz on repeat all night, and woke up feeling horrible and then had an existential crisis. Starting at a high frequency for long period of time is like jumping right into a hot tub. Aaahhhhh!!! Hot tubs feel great but you have to ease into it.
If you are not used to feeling good, a high frequency can be too much for you. When I started listening to WholeTones I hovered around 417 Hz for some time. Weeks. And then I craved 444 Hz on repeat for weeks. And up it went. Now I know where I am in life based on what frequency feels good to me. If I need an "in day" I'm often on 528 Hz. Not feeling well? 417 Hz. When I'm ready to get out in the world (improv class, anyone?) I usually jam to 639 Hz. Sometimes when I'm really in the zone and new thing are popping and I want ULTIMATE CLARITY I'm up at 741 Hz.
(I NEVER play 852 Hz unless I want to meditate. That one throws me right out of my body.)
And sometimes I tune in to the people around me and pick a Hz that feels right for all involved. I'm a stay-at-home-mom so harmony is key.
The thing is, you can tell what feels good for you. Listen to your body and go from there.
I carry my music in my pocket. Here's how and why.
I'm SO SENSITIVE I feel when the music isn't with me. I can honestly tell what people are feeling. I can feel what people are feeling. (Emotions are just frequencies after all.) Carrying the music with me is like having a bubble of positive, harmonious awesome around me. I'm able to walk through the world without getting emotionally exhausted or anxious.
Bonus: as an feeling extrovert, I'm way more quiet and present now.
(I have a theory that feeling, talkative extroverts may just be talking a lot as a defense mechanism.)
I searched and searched and finally found a .mp3 player that has a speaker. It's cheap and so is the speaker but no worries. The quality of the sound doesn't matter because it's still the same frequency.

Or rather: how I came to enjoy the mornings because I have to get up early, but let's face it, I will probably sleep in again when my lifestyle allows it. :)
I have to get up early. I have a 3 year old. I also have a 13 year old and a 10 year old so this kid-waking-me-up thing is not new. Now I even have a puppy so I'm really in for it. ;) But I'm not phased. Even though I'm a total night owl–like theatre and RPG geek night owl–I taught myself how to enjoy getting up early in the morning. Today it was before 5:00am. WHO WOKE THE TODDLER?!
So when a friend on Facebook asked yesterday how to shift her 'not so much of a morning personality' thing I thought it would be great to share how I did it.
To being, let's stop for a minute and look at the statement I wrote above: I HAVE to get up early. Do I have to? If I believe in the Law of Attraction can't I have anything I want, including sleeping in, no matter the circumstances?
Let's not get into a whole discussion about highest good and you can't control other people even with the best of intentions or this blog post will be ten pages long. Instead, let's start with choice-point.
I actually DO want to get up early.
It doesn't feel right to have my three year old in the house awake by himself and you try to make him sleep if he's up and doesn't want to go back to bed after 4:00am, so yes, I do want to get up.
This is step one in becoming a morning person: Shift out any victim thinking.
This step is very important.
Until you actually want to become a morning person there is nothing anyone or anything can do for you.
So if you know that you want to become a morning person (or at least enjoy mornings while you are in need of them), what next?
Here's the program I used:
1. Set the flow before you go.
Before you go to bed, set the flow for the next day. This gives you momentum before you even get up. What is your intent for the next day? When my intent started to get really complicated and felt like work I stopped and just intuited my keyword for the next day.
That helped a lot.
It was simple. It was clear. And it didn't contain any clutter like "to do's" in it. It gave me a goal I could relax and trust.
Intuiting a keyword also lets you be where you are.
Sometimes we think being a morning person means waking up chipper. That's not always the case. And if you think you have to be a certain mood–a mood you can't or don't want to reach–it can trip you up before you even get started.
For example, if you have been having a rough week, waking up chipper the next day sounds super annoying. UG. Instead, intend to wake up feeling relief or something like it.
If you have been having a great week but are worried about something unwanted that might happen, set the intent to wake up feeling empowered or something like it.
Now you are not resisting tomorrow.
I often use a Boogie Board before bed to jot down my intent for the next day. I find that writing it down helps a lot. My thoughts can be tangled yet I can get really clear on an appropriate emotional goal for myself when I write with my hand.
Now that you have an intent-goal for the next day...
2. Go to bed as up-vibe as you can
This is like setting the flow but instead of thinking about tomorrow you are thinking about right now. How high can you get your vibe right now before sleep?
This step is important because, like hitting the pause button, you wake up in the same energetic perspective you feel asleep in.
It's much easier to have a higher vibe in the morning when you go to bed with one.
Now that you are feeling as good as you can before sleep... know that as soon as you wake up...
3. Anchor your vibe in 68 seconds
When you wake up you have 68 seconds to anchor your vibe. Imagine a mountain climber putting an anchor in the rock with a rope attached to their waist. They can climb up and down from that point but never get farther than the rope will allow. It's just like that. Wherever you are in your overall vibe at 68 seconds after you wake, that's about where you will vibe all day.
Some 68 second up-vibe ideas I have used with great success:
Notice in my examples I haven't gotten out of bed yet. I'm also not doing cerebral things like scripting or writing gratitude lists. Those may work for but they didn't work for me. I only have 68 seconds and it will take me that long sometimes to sit up, get a notebook, find a pen... and I do my 68 second vibe setting before I even sit up. But you can get up if that works for you. You get to choose. Try it out. Experiment. :)
But wait, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed where your vibe was lower than you like at 68 seconds? Be easy on yourself all day. Tomorrow you will have another chance to up your vibe again.
I'm not kidding.
If you wake up in a really bad mood... sometimes waiting for bed is the best answer to that issue. Don't make any life-changing decisions that day if you can help it. ;)
If you WANT to be a morning person, you set your flow for the next day, you go to bed as feel-good as you can (relief counts), and you set your vibe as high as you can the first 68 seconds you wake, your morning life–and all day life–will change into awesome in 30 days or less.
P.S. If you only pick ONE of these to do, set your vibe as high as you can the first 68 seconds you wake.

"You're so... happy!"
Yes. Yes I am. That's because I clocked in to the sleep zone around 9:00pm last night. 7:30pm the night before.
Once again I am reminded of the balancing power of sleep.
You think I would have learned this by now. I have three kids, four and six years apart. Enough time to free-fall into the sleep-deprived baby and toddler years and then come back out, battle-worn and sweatpant weary, into blissful sleep at night once more, only to do it all over again.
This time, however, my baby has hair. Lots and lots of hair:

The first month was, well, brutal. Loving and fun and amazing and cuddly and... brutal. We didn't know how this puppy-thing worked. He didn't know how we worked. All we both knew was that there was a lot of potty happening and not a lot of sleep happening. Sometimes in the yard. Many times in the house.
I weathered it well at first. I was invincible! Fueled by love and determination!
It took weeks before I looked in the mirror and realized I was un-showered, in the same clothes I'd been wearing since.... um.... I don't remember... an old pair of glasses sliding off my nose instead of wearing my contacts. I had to step over piles of laundry to get to the kitchen.
The pre-schooler was always doing things wrong. The dog was too jumpy. People weren't helping enough.
Diner was an afterthought. I didn't have time to play. I don't know what day it was.
And it was getting worse.
Luckily, we got a cold.
I could blame the play-place I took the kids to but I know better. Getting a cold means you are overwhelmed. So I shut it down, went to bed early for two nights and now...
The pre-schooler is doing everything well. The dog is awesome. People are so supportive.
Dinner is planned. I played all morning. It's Tuesday.
And yet nothing changed except me getting some much needed zzzzz's.
So mom and dads, before you wonder what's wrong with you, what's wrong with your kids, what's wrong with your life, what's wrong with your very existence, check to see if there is anything wrong with your sleep. If you can get some extra hours in the sack, do it. If you can't, put a sticker on your mouth while you ride it out. It will get better, I promise.
