The Law of Attraction simply means: like attract like. It supposes that the world is made of energy. People, things, relationships and situations are all energy. Money is energy. Thoughts are energy. This is quantum physics. Since like energy attracts like energy, and energy = thoughts & things, what you think about you create in your life. Look around the room and tell me how many red items you have. Now close your eyes and tell me how many yellow items there are. That's Law of Attraction in a nut shell. If you spend all of your time looking for, noticing, commenting on and otherwise seeing "red" (unpaid bills, the disgruntled actions of your teenager, traffic) that's what you get more of in your life. If, however, you learn how to focus more on the yellow things that you prefer (money flowing easily, laughter, great relationships) that's what you get more of. Both of the red things and the yellow things exist. Traffic exists. Your teenager may be grumpy. It's what YOU focus on that creates your personal life experience. Law of Attraction - It's Not Magic One of the great knocks against Law of Attraction is that when you hear "get rich with positive thinking!" people assume that means if you just sit in your house, ignore your bills and put on a happy face money is going to throw itself through your front window. That's not how Law of Attraction works. How Law of Attraction Really Works Say you suffer every day in traffic and you wish you didn't have to deal with it. As long as you focus on traffic that's what you get. "But there IS traffic", you say. "How can I not focus on it?" You train yourself, little by little, to focus more on what you want and less on what you don't. This is where the work of applying the Law of Attraction to your life comes in. There are many tools and processes you can use. Here is an example:
Notice: while you do this you are STILL in traffic every day. Law of Attraction hasn't waved a magic wand and made half the cars disappear in a puff of smoke. But still, you are happier when you get to work. Perhaps you've found a book-on-tape that you love listening to in the car. A few months later something miraculous happens. It could be:
But as you train yourself to focus on what you prefer more often than on what you don't prefer your life reflects it. Now that you consciously apply the Law of Attraction to your life your neighbor says to you, "Traffic was terrible this morning!" You simply smile and say, "Really? I hadn't noticed!" "You can be happy or sad, it doesn't matter. You get to choose. You can go this way or that way. You get to choose. Figure it all out as you go. There's not one right path. There are many right paths. Do anything you can do -- which means think it or speak it or do it -- that makes you feel a little better." - Abraham - Esther Hicks - Excerpted from a workshop in Boston, MA on Sunday, October 10th, 1999 Comments are closed.
