Three years before the book was written, Robert and Jane were given information, by Seth, about the difference between inner and outer reality and how inner reality CREATES outer reality.
(This was, to them, an entirely new and radical idea because back in the 70's Abraham, Wayne Dyer and all of the now-all-over Law of Attraction people did not exist.)
In the book Robert admitted they had not done much with that information in those three years. Jane's health was suffering greatly and Seth was trying to help them.
It's a sweet book written by a minister who realized that by not complaining his entire world shifted, and so too did the lives of his congregation. (Law of Attraction, anyone? :)
To help people achieve 21 days without complaining (the length of time it takes to form a new habit he says) he passed out purple rubber bracelets to his people. The instructions were simple:
Every time you complain, switch the bracelet to the other wrist. Do this until you've gone 21 days without switching your bracelet once.
The book shares success stories and the struggles people faced during the challenge. It also outlines what a complaint is and how you can still work through problems or state something you don't like without complaining (super helpful!)
Throughout this year I started and stopped going 21 days without any real commitment to going the distance. I felt so much better during my "on" days, true, but other things were pressing on my mind. Now that those things are shifted and the New Year is coming around again I am inspired to make this a priority. I'm excited about it!

It doesn't matter what you wear on your wrist.

As I was about to cut out little pieces of paper and number them to keep track of my days I saw they now have a widget you can download to your computer to keep track with on the Complaint Free Website.
The geek-girl in me is jumping for joy!!!
Why do you need a system to keep track, you ask?
Well... the range varies greatly but some people have taken eight months to go a full 21 days. (Whaaa?) But don't let that stop you - just imagine all of those complaint-free days in-between. Talk about being the change you wish you see in the world... :)
_When I first heard about the Law of Attraction – that we create our own reality – I disagreed. I couldn't believe that I had created the pain I had felt in my life.
I know I didn't ask for my heart to be broken and I certainly could not believe that children would ask to be hurt or that people would create things like 9/11 on purpose.
Therefor, Law of Attraction must not work. I ignored the teachings for years.
But in a time of desperation I gave it another shot because, what could it hurt?
Come to find out it does work; I had just been misinterpreting it all along.
_When you first learn about the Law of Attraction it can sound irresponsible and unreasonable.
"What?! If I'm just being happy and I'm not preparing myself or protecting myself from all of the bad things in the world how will I stay safe? How will I be a responsible person?"
I've written articles about this. I've done workshops about this. But then I saw a movie that showed Law of Attraction in action better than I could ever explain. And it did it in only 1 minute and 48 seconds.
